County Seeks Volunteers for Long Term Care Ombudsman Program

Persons interested in helping to enhance the quality of life for nursing home residents are invited to volunteer as long-term care advocates with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services. Ombudsmen representatives work to promote the highest quality of life for residents in nursing home settings and help to resolve problems. Montgomery County’s Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is marking more than 25 years of providing service and will offer its volunteer training in October.

A training session for volunteers will be held Monday, October 1 through Friday, October 5, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holiday Park Senior Center, 3950 Ferrara Drive, Wheaton. Participants will receive a comprehensive orientation to the aging process, nursing home systems, applicable laws and advocacy skills.
