Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Downtown Silver Spring Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crime Division are investigating a shooting in the 800 block of Easley Street in Silver Spring. At about 11:16 p.m. last night officers from the 3rd District investigated a call for a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene they discovered a 30 year old African-American male on the sidewalk in front of the building suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to Medstar, succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead. A possible suspect was observed fleeing from the area described as a possible African-American male in his 20’s. There is no further description at this time. The victim’s identity has not been confirmed. His body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The investigation is continuing and additional information will be released when it becomes available. Any persons who may have information relating to this case may remain anonymous and are asked to call detectives at the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5770. Update Update Update Update Silver Spring Homicide Investigation Continues - Victim Identified Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crime Division are continuing to investigating the shooting in the 800 block of Easley Street in Silver Spring. The victim has been identified as Mark Ray, age 30, of the 800 block of Easley Street in Silver Spring. At about 11:16 p.m. last night officers from the 3rd District investigated a call for a shooting. Preliminary investigation revealed that officers arrived on the scene and discovered a 30 year old African-American male on the sidewalk in front of the building suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to Medstar, succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead. A possible suspect was observed fleeing from the area described as a possible African-American male in his 20’s. There is no further description at this time. The exact cause and manner of death will be confirmed after the completion of an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Any persons who may have information relating to this case may remain anonymous and are asked to call detectives at the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5770. Update Update Update Update Police Have Obtained an Arrest Warrant for a Suspect Held in the Silver Spring Homicide Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crime Division have obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect in the homicide that occurred last night in Silver Spring. At about 11:16 p.m. last night officers from the 3rd District investigated a call for a shooting. Preliminary investigation revealed that officers arrived on the scene and discovered a 30 year old African-American male on the sidewalk in front of the building suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to Medstar, where he succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead. A possible suspect was observed fleeing from the area described as a possible African-American male in his 20’s. The victim has been identified as Mark Ray, age 30, of the 800 block of Easley Street in Silver Spring. Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Homicide/Sex Division obtained an arrest warrant for Rohan Campbell, a 27 year-old man, of no-fixed address. The warrant charges Campbell with 1st degree murder, and the use of a handgun in commission of a felony. This morning at approximately 11:57 a.m., Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Repeat Offenders Section and Detectives from the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Rohan Campbell in Washington DC. Campbell is being held at DC Jail awaiting extradition to Montgomery County. The exact cause and manner of death will be confirmed after the completion of an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
