To promote pedestrian safety as children return to school on Monday, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will present the first progress report on the County’s speed camera program since it began in May and highlight the worst violations near schools. Leggett will announce the location of the first permanent camera at an intersection near a County high school which, over the summer, averaged nearly 50 speeding citations an hour.
Joining Leggett will be Montgomery County Council President Marilyn Praisner, Montgomery County Council Member Valerie Ervin, Delegate Bill Bronrott (D-16), School Board Member Patricia O’Neill, Montgomery County Police Commander of the 5th District Tom Didone, Wheaton High School Principal Kevin Lowndes and School Crossing Guard JoAnn Andre.
