Police Investigate Attempted Rape in Silver Spring
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division—Homicide/Sex Section are investigating an attempted rape in Silver Spring which occurred Sunday morning August 19. On August 19 at approximately 3:45 a.m., a 29 year-old woman of Silver Spring was exiting her car in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring when she was attacked. The victim fought with her attacker, before getting to her pepper spray and spraying her attacker. The suspect let go of the victim and she was able to get to safety. The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8” tall, weighing between 150-160 pounds, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The Montgomery County Police want to advise the public, that although it is legal for an adult to carry or wear Chemical Mace, pepper spray, or a tear gas device, it is illegal to do so with the intent to commit an unlawful act or for a juvenile to posses these devices. < ...more
