| Parking issue at Bethesda post office resolved
The US Postal Service has made arrangements for free customer parking for patrons of the new Bethesda post office at 6900 Wisconsin Avenue. Now c ustomers can park in the Adagio condominium (6820 Wisconsin Avenue) underground parking garage and have their parking tickets validated at the post office after completing their transactions. (See the August 29 Gazette article for details.) Entry to Adagio's parking garage is around the corner on Bradley Boulevard. It is the same entry used by customers going to Staples, PetSmart and CVS in the building above. |
| Club Friday
If you have any youngsters in grades 3-6 who have energy to burn come Friday nights, the Club Friday program at the Potomac, Clara Barton (course number 342294) and Lawton/Chevy Chase (course number 342297) community centers may be just the ticket.
Club Friday is a youth activity club that meets Fridays 7-9 pm. All club begin in October and end next spring (dates vary). Activities include sports, arts and crafts, bingo, movies, djs, games, etc. Registration can be done online, over the phone or in person. Visit the Club Friday website above for more information. |

Labor Day weekend at Glen Echo Park
Glen Echo Park's 42nd annual Labor Day art show opens in the Spanish Ballroom on Friday, August 31, with a 7-9 pm reception. The show runs through Labor Day and is open noon-6 pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture and the Irish Inn at Glen Echo will hold the sixth annual Irish Music & Dance Showcase on Saturday and Monday, 1-6 pm, in the bumper car pavilion. The showcase will feature a wide variety of the area's finest performers. Attendees who'd like to participate in a ceili dance will have their chance on Monday, beginning at 3 pm.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Finally, there's always the park's historic 1921 Dentzel carousel, which will operate Fridayt from 7 - 9 pm and Saturday through Monday from noon-6 pm ($1.25/person).

Labor Day schedules
As usual, most county offices and all libraries will be closed this Labor Day, Monday, September 3, as will state offices and courts. Bus and train service -- Ride On, Metro -- will operate on Sunday schedules. There will be no curbside trash or recycle pickups; all collections will slide one day. |
