Junior Achievement Greater Washington Futures - June 2012
Financial Literacy | Work Readiness | Entrepreneurship | Greater Washington Futures | | | | | | June 2012 | DONATE | VOLUNTEER | myJA.org | | | | | | | | | | Ed Grenier | | | President and CEO Junior Achievement of Greater Washington | | | People throughout Greater Washington are enjoying the summer with visits to local parks, travel on family vacations and swims at community pools.
At JA we ask, “who’s responsible for maintaining these grounds, roads and facilities?” As adults, we understand it’s the employees of local governments. But your child may not know this, so use it as a teachable moment.
Take a minute on these visits to explain how the experience is made possible. Describe that your family, your neighbors and others all share the cost through taxes. Explain that you pay these taxes as part of your monthly spending plan, a budget.
Kids learn best when having fun, so consider the happy times an opportunity to also develop fundamental life-skills.
As always, your support makes our work possible.
Thank you, enjoy the summer.
