More than 10,000 MCPS Students to Receive Diplomas
More than 10,000 students will receive their high school diploma over the next few weeks as Montgomery County Public Schools (MPCS) holds graduation ceremonies.
Graduation season began on Friday, May 25 with MCPS alternative programs and continues today with ceremonies at DAR Constitution Hall (DAR) for Col. Zadok Magruder High School and Sherwood High School. Twenty-one of the MCPS graduation ceremonies will be held at DAR. These ceremonies can be viewed live on the DAR website.
The graduation ceremonies include speakers that are notable alumni, current MCPS staff and several individuals of national and regional prominence. Among the speakers are David Simon, producer for the TV show The Wire, DeMaurice Smith, executive director for the NFL Players Association and Jim Gibbons, international president and CEO for Goodwill Industries. Other speakers include U.S. Representative Chris Van Hollen, Maryland State Delegate Jeffrey Waldstreicher, and Jeffrey Slavin, mayor of Somerset and Montgomery County philanthropist of the year.
