WHARFF Expo Offers Activities for Successful Aging 

On Sunday, June 10, Temple Beth Ami and many community partners will offer a wide range of activities designed to help County residents age well. Activities include medical screenings; technology demonstrations; massage, acupuncture and chiropractic; fitness & cooking demonstrations and more. The free event takes place at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Rd., Rockville from 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information and to register for special activities, click here or call 301-762-8809.

 

Talk to Your Family about Your Healthcare Wishes

Discover Five Wishes, a tool that details who you want in charge of your healthcare decisions--and how you wish to be treated--if you become ill and unable to communicate. Family Therapist to Discuss Relationships

Leonard Adler, LCSW-C, a family therapist with over 30 years experience, will lead a conversation about relationships titled What Matters in Relationships Matters

Fire Chief Bowers Presents a Senior Safety Summit

Learn about fire safety around the home and how to avoid fraud during the Senior Safety Summit at Leisure World on June 14 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This free event is open to the public and will also address fall prevention and security both at home and away. Go to the Leisure World Crystal Ballroom, 3701 Rossmoor Blvd. in Silver Spring.

Safe Seniors Day: Learn the Essentials
Enjoy an afternoon of fun and education at Holiday Park Senior Center (3950 Ferrara Drive, Wheaton) on June 15. From 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., the free event will include speakers, exhibitors, demonstrations and entertainment. No registration necessary. Montgomery County Recreation Department Dedicates the White Oak Community Center

On June 23, check out the County’s newest facility. This contemporary building offers full-size and auxiliary gymnasiums, arts and crafts studios, meeting rooms, a social hall with full size catering kitchen, and a climbing wall! There will be activities for every age group at the Center including creative and visual arts, fitness, sports, and more. The outdoor area features multiple-use fields, skate spots, and two state-of-the-art playgrounds…all designed to keep residents happy and moving. Join County leaders in dedicating the building at 11:30 a.m. at 1700 April Lane in Silver Spring.
