The charts in this summary are based on calls for service and may not be indicated via the incidents detailed in this report. Some of the reports may not have been available, or the victim and suspect were known to each other; therefore the case closed. Notable arrests for crime trends are provided via press releases. D1 Beat: This week twelve thefts from vehicles were reported, with nine occurring overnight from Tuesday 6/12 to Wednesday 6/13 and the rest occurring overnight from Thursday 6/14 to Friday 6/15. Incidents occurred primarily in the Rollingwood and Chevy Chase Village neighborhoods. One vehicle had forced entry, the rest were either left unsecured or else entered with no signs of force. Vehicles were searched and GPS units and cash were taken. A vehicle theft occurred during the same overnight timeframe of 6/12 to 6/13 in the 3500 block of Cummings Way in Chevy Chase. A spare key had apparently been left inside the vehicle. D2 Beat: A commercial armed robbery occurred at Geste Wine & Food, 4801 Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda on Friday 6/15, the suspect displayed a weapon and obtained property. Suspect: B/M, 18-21, 58-59/165-170 lbs., mustache; wore a black hoodie A robbery occurred at East West Highway & Pearl Street in Bethesda on Friday 6/15 at approximately 7:50 p.m. The suspect forcefully removed property from the victim. Arrested: Male, age 20, from an unknown address Two thefts from vehicles occurred overnight from Thursday 6/14 to Friday 6/15, one in the 4400 block of Chestnut Street and one in the 4500 block of Rosedale Avenue in Berthesda Vehicles had been left unsecured and loose cash was taken. D3 Beat: Thefts from vehicles: Seven events were reported this week. All of the vehicles involved had been left unsecured or were entered without force.
E1 Beat: A residential burglary occurred in the 5200 block of Wyoming Road in Bethesda on Monday 6/11 at 1:30 a.m. Forced entry; property taken. Sixteen thefts from vehicles were reported this week; almost all during the early morning hours on Monday 6/11 in the residential neighborhoods of Glen Echo. Vehicles targeted had been left unsecured or else were entered with no signs of force. Cash was the primary target. In addition to these thefts, two vehicle thefts were reported stolen during this same time period.
