Police Alert With school ending and the summer beginning, several things are certain…there will be an increase in the number of Thefts from vehicles and Residential burglaries. As we have mentioned before we need the community’s help in preventing crime before it can occur. I am asking that you reiterate to your respective HOA’s and Community Associations to keep windows and doors locked on their cars and homes (especially garage doors), and to remove all personal property from their vehicles and yards especially overnight. These are usually crimes of opportunity and occur late at night and in the early morning hours. Thieves target wallets, purses, cell phones, all Apple products, bicycles, scooters, and anything else they can carry or ride away with quickly. We have seen that a large number of our victims failed to lock their car doors or close their garage at night thus leaving them vulnerable. As always remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the police immediately via our non-emergency number: 301-279-8000, provide tag numbers and descriptions of suspects & vehicles if possible. We encourage everyone to help us by looking out for your neighbor and don’t hesitate to call if something doesn’t seem right. If you need an immediate police response, please call 911.
