Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will visit with more than 50 residents of the Charter House apartments in Silver Spring who are currently staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. County agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Housing and Community Affairs and the Volunteer Center have been working with residents since they were displaced November 30 after the high-rise building’s basement was flooded and the building was evacuated. In all, nearly 100 of the 200+ residents of the building are staying at the Crowne Plaza and several other area hotels, while awaiting repairs to Charter House’s electrical system. County agencies have provided financial assistance, counseling services and case management to the residents, while area businesses have generously provided meals and other services to those displaced.
