Rockville Councilmember Appointed to Pedestrian,
Bicycle and Traffic Safety Committee
John Hall to Serve Term with Montgomery County Advisory Group
Rockville, Md., April 3 - Rockville City Councilmember John Hall was appointed in March to serve on the Montgomery County Pedestrian, Bicycle and Traffic Safety Advisory Committee, representing the Maryland Municipal League.
The committee is charged with advising the County Executive and the County Council on the implementation of the Pedestrian Safety Initiative, which aims to reduce pedestrian-related collisions and to make communities safer, more walkable and more livable. The committee also reviews and advises the county on issues related to improving pedestrian safety.
The committee was originally formed in 2006 following the work of a Blue Ribbon Panel on Pedestrian Safety and Traffic. From that work, 54 recommendations emerged, including the creation of a Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee. In 2008, the County Council renamed the committee to include traffic.
The committee is made up of state, county and municipal elected officials, residents, school officials, county and state agencies, and police. It meets the first Thursday of every other month at 7 p.m. at various locations.
