MSHA extends closure of Elmhirst Drive access to Rockville Pike/MD355

The Maryland State Highway Administration (MSHA) has announced that the current temporary closure of Elmhirst Drive at MD 355 (Rockville Pike) will continue through late April. The closure of Elmhirst Drive began in early March as part of the advanced utility relocation Base Alignment and Closure (BRAC) work at the MD 355/Cedar Lane intersection. Crews are relocating a water line and will now work to relocate a sanitary line near this location.

Motorists along MD 355 are currently directed to use Locust Hill Road to reach Elmhirst Lane and Elmhirst Drive. Existing detour signs, cones and barrels will continue to guide motorists through the work zone. Crews will continue to work on Elmhirst Drive weekdays between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. The temporary closure of Elmhirst Drive at MD 355 will remain in place 24 hours a day for the duration of the sanitary line relocation.
