Free Tax Preparation Assistance Available in Rockville

County Residents with Limited Income Are Eligible

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 26 - Rockville residents who earn less than $50,000 per year are eligible for federal and state tax form preparation assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

VITA appointments are available Wednesdays, 3-8 p.m., at the City of Rockville's Community Services Division office, 30 Courthouse Square. A walk-in VITA tax preparation event is scheduled for Saturday, April 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway.

To qualify for assistance, individuals must live in Montgomery County, have earned less than $50,000 in 2011 and have a W-2 and/or 1099 form.

The VITA program is a partnership between the City of Rockville and Montgomery County to provide tax preparation assistance to lower-income community members.
