Follow your neighborhood’s community policing officer on Twitter! She can’t be everywhere at once, but you can interact with her virtually.
Get updates on the Community Outreach Program’s current projects, upcoming events, and pertinent safety tips. Have ideas on how to make the program even better? This is your opportunity to offer suggestions to the COP.

There has been a shift in communication among individuals, and a majority use technology and social media sites to stay connected. What better way to stay connected with the COP than to follow it on Twitter?
(Follow the TPPD Community Outreach Program: @TPPDcop). This is a great way for us to reach out to the community to promote and increase awareness in areas of safety and crime prevention. So come on and join the conversation!

A few things to note:

1. This is primarily to follow what the COP is doing (not what the entire agency is doing).
2. This page is NOT for posting crime concerns/quality of life issues. These should be directly addressed through phone (301-891-7121) or email (carlam@takomagov.org).
3. The page will only be monitored while the community policing officer is on duty.
4. Immediate police assistance should be called into our main line 301-270-1100.
5. **The COP Twitter page is used only as a medium directly to the COP officer. Crime updates, community advisories, and news releases will still be handled by our PIO, Cathy Plevy, through our department’s official social media accounts. **
