Gaithersburg’s Spring Recreation Guide Now Available
Gaithersburg, MD – (March 19, 2012) The Spring 2012 Leisure Times, Gaithersburg’s comprehensive guide to recreation programs and services, is now available at City facilities. It is also mailed to most households within Gaithersburg City limits, and can be viewed online from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture pages of the City’s website at
www.gaithersburgmd.gov/classes.
This recreation guide contains a complete listing of recreation classes, sports programs, youth and senior services, cultural arts, aquatics, and recreational facilities. Spring class registration for City of Gaithersburg residents is now open. Nonresidents may register beginning March 21.
With programs for preschoolers, youth, teens, and adults, you’ll find an array of fitness, dance and special interest offerings. This spring edition of the Leisure Times introduces a variety of new classes and programs. Get in shape with STEP ROCKS! and Dynamic Energy Boost Workout fitness classes. Explore your creative side with Beginning Beading and Introduction to Wire Work jewelry making workshops. Hone your computer skills with Microsoft Word for Career Development, Microsoft Excel to Manage Your Finances, and HTML to Develop a Family Website. Pet owners can take advantage of numerous lectures on house training, mouthing and rough play, chewing or destructive behavior, and dog park etiquette. Other new additions include Linoleum Block Printing, Beginning Guitar, Ukulele lessons, Latin Dance Team, and Belly Dance for Self Expression.
Arts classes and workshops for children and adults, including painting, drawing, musical theater, sewing, and glass fusing, are offered at the Arts Barn, Gaithersburg’s premiere cultural arts facility. Registration for these classes is ongoing and takes place year ‘round.
