Rockville Police to Suspend Public
Fingerprinting Services Due to FBI Regulations

Rockville, Md., March 8, 2012 - On Sunday, April 15, the Rockville Police Department will suspend fingerprinting services to the public due to new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) requirements.

The FBI implemented the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System to process civil and criminal fingerprint submissions electronically, resulting in quicker processing and faster response times. As a result, the FBI has advised all public safety agencies that they will no longer accept hard-copy fingerprint cards as of April 15.

Citizens needing fingerprinting services can visit one of the several designated Live Scan fingerprint sites located throughout the State of Maryland. These sites are equipped with electronic fingerprinting systems and accepted by the FBI. For a listing of designated Live Scan sites please visit below.

The Rockville City Police Department will be moving to a new facility and it is anticipated that fingerprinting services will resume once this move is made in summer, 2012. For more information about the Rockville City Police Department visit
