Rockville Compensation Commission Seeks Applicants

City Looks for Volunteers to Serve on Variety of Boards and Commissions

ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 24, 2012 -Rockville's Compensation Commission is seeking volunteers to serve on the five-member appointed panel that meets every two years to evaluate and make recommendations about the Mayor and Council's compensation.

There are five members of the commission who must be residents of the City or have a place of business in the City. Terms are staggered (initial appointments for two, four and six years) and begin Dec. 31 of the year in which they are appointed and run for six years or until their successors are appointed and qualified.

The Compensation Commission must meet before Jan. 31 in an election year. At that meeting, the commission must discuss its mission of recommending possible changes to the salaries of the Mayor and Council members. Before making a recommendation and to assist with its deliberations, the commission seeks input from residents to express their opinions on various aspects of compensating the Mayor and Council. For more information, please visit www.rockvillemd.gov/government/commissions.

The Compensation Commission has three vacancies to fill. Residents who would like to apply for the open position on the commission, can write to the Mayor and Council, c/o City Clerk, Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850, or call the City Clerk's Office at 240-314-8281 for information or to fill out and submit an Expression of Interest form.
