Police Investigate Double Fatal
Collision in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a double fatal collision that occurred early this morning in Silver Spring.
Today at approximately 3:09 a.m., 3rd District officers and Fire /Rescue personnel responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 600 block of University Boulevard East.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2003 Nissan Murano was traveling eastbound on University Boulevard East approaching Langley Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan left the roadway and came to rest in the front yard of 611 University Boulevard East. The driver and the rear seat passenger succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The front seat passenger of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Jenice Richards, age 22, of the 6800 block of Highview Terrace in Hyattsville. The rear seat passenger has been identified as Tamara Nicole Johnson, age 19, of the 7300 block of Riggs Road in Hyattsville. The front seat passenger has been identified as Desaleen Rayna James, age 18, of the 8200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.
The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.
