Dunn Loring Metrorail Station Bus Bays to Relocated on October 17
First step of multi-year joint development project
Beginning October 17, Metro will temporarily relocate the bus bays at Dunn Loring Station for two-and-half-years due to a major construction project to build residential and retail space.
- Bus Bays A/B/C/D/E/F will be relocated to both sides of Gallows Road and the north side of Prosperity Avenue.
- Metrobus routes 2T, 2C and Fairfax Connector 401, 462 and 463 will have its bus stop on Gallows Road.
- Metrobus routes 1C, 1B and 2A will have its bus stop on Prosperity Avenue.
For safety reasons, bus customers are advised to use designated crosswalks and marked pedestrian walkways.
When the project is complete, the station will feature new bus bays and shelters, a continuous canopy to station entrance amd improved pedestrian and bicycle paths.
The relocation of the bus bays is the first phase of construction work as part of a larger development project that will include a new parking garage, residential housing and retail. The project is expected to be completed in the next four to five years.
Dunn Loring Station serves about 5,300 people on a typical weekday.
