Default GOCA and Police Work to Reduce Crime

Advice to keep yourself and your property safe
Greater Olney Civic Association
MESSAGE FOR THE OLNEY COMMUNITY
Over the last week we have been in your neighborhoods in undercover
cars and marked police cars after dark and into the early morning
hours.  Officers have made several arrests ranging from burglary and
vandalism to drug possession and distribution.  We will continue this
effort until the recent crime trend is addressed but we have also
noted several concerning issues.

Many garages still remain open and cars unlocked with valuable
property inside and in plain view.

Please remember, we cannot do this alone and count you for
assistance.  Remind your family and neighbors to:

 close and lock your garages
 lock your cars and remove property that may entice criminal activity
 close and lock all first floor windows in your houses
 lock your doors and turn on your porch lights

Currently we have several suspects that have been stealing from cars
in the Olney/Brookeville area.  Hopefully we will be successful in
our apprehension and recovery of property in this case.

Fianlly, if you see anything suspicious CALL the police.  301-279-8000
is our non-emergency number or 911 if you're just not sure.

Be safe!
