Pedestrian Struck by School Bus in Bethesda

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred this afternoon on Arlington Road at Moorland Lane in Bethesda.
Today at approximately 1:19 p.m., 2nd District officers and Fire/Rescue responded to the 7600 block of Arlington Road for a pedestrian struck. The victim, a 60-year-old woman, was transported to Suburban Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries at 3:38 p.m. She has been identified as Sheila Clark Humphries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Humphries was attempting to cross Arlington Road at the intersection of Moorland Lane. She was in the northbound lanes when a school bus exiting from Bethesda Elementary School turned north onto Arlington Road and struck her. Humphries was in the crosswalk.
The driver of the school bus was not injured, remained on the scene, and provided information to investigators. He has been identified as Gilbert Ventura Fuentes, 43 years old, of the 8900 block of 23rd Place in Hyattsville. There were five students on the bus at the time of the collision. Fuentes and the students were not injured.
