Default Travel Photography of Les Grinspoon on Display at Arts Barn Invitational Gallery

City of Gaithersburg Press Release
For Immediate Release          October 30, 2009

Travel Photography of Les Grinspoon
on Display at Arts Barn Invitational Gallery

Gaithersburg, MD. The works of well-traveled photographer Les Grinspoon will be on display at the Arts Barn Invitational Gallery November 2 through 29, 2009.

Potomac, Maryland resident Les Grinspoon travels near and far to document the rare, serene images that edge their way into his camera lens. His travels have taken him to South America, Europe, Russia, and Vietnam. But according to the photographer, “If I could only travel in one foreign country for the rest of my life, it would be Italy.” Scenes of the Amalfi Coast, Positano, and vibrant Italian streets are just a few of the subjects that punctuate his portfolio with colorful landscapes and insightful close-ups. Icons in Thailand, courtyards in Bangkok, even unassuming street vendors in Hanoi make for the most striking of imagery that define this artist’s genre.

After a long career in the high technology industry, it was only a few years ago when this photographer decided to go professional in his chosen field of art. Completely self-taught, Grinspoon says, “If I have a strength, it’s in using my eye as composition.” What he sees is what comes out in the photographs—and anyone who has ever taken a picture knows how difficult it is to mirror, through film, what the naked eye sees. Senses will feast on the hues that define each Grinspoon photograph. “I tend to take a lot of bright colors,” he says. “It makes me feel good.” It’s safe to say that if the artist has an easy feeling about the moments he is preserving, his audience will respond in kind.

Please note that all images are copyrighted by the artist. The Arts Barn is located at 311 Kent Square Road in Gaithersburg. Viewing hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information please contact Gallery Director Natalya Parris at 301-258-6350 or 301-258-6394 or visit the City’s website.
