Gaithersburg Police Conduct
Back to School Safety Initiative
Gaithersburg, MD - Beginning August 31, 2009, the Gaithersburg Police Department will be conducting its annual Back to School Traffic Safety Initiative.
Officers will be actively enforcing all traffic safety laws in and around school zones to help the school year start off safe. Officers will be paying strict attention to speeding, stop signs, pedestrian, and stopped school bus violations.
“As we begin a new school year, we want to remind motorists of the importance of being alert and obeying traffic laws especially in the area of our schools,” says Gaithersburg Chief of Police John King.
Voluntary compliance is the Police Department’s goal and the cooperation of all City residents is essential to the success of the program. For more information contact the City of Gaithersburg Police Department at 301-258-6400 or visit
