If you need a cathartic activity, try to get onsite soon and do some demo work! We have plenty of things that you can break up and tear down. Before you head to the site, make sure to review these key rules for your next build day. - Arrive by 8.15am to the central meeting location and plan to stay for the whole day, usually until 3pm.
- Wear pants and closed toe shoes.
- Listen to the safety speech each and every time you volunteer--even if you've been onsite before--and use all equipment appropriately.
- Drink a lot of water.
- Read all the materials you receive from us in advance of your build day. We might have some important last minute tips to share with you.
- If you are registered and cannot make it onsite, please cancel at least 12 to 24 hours before your build day. We always have folks on the waiting list and we ask that you please be considerate so others may build.
- Have a good time!

| | Construction Survey! | Have you been on the construction site lately? Well if you have, please take a moment to complete our construction volunteer survey. If only take a few quick minutes and we really do value your feedback. Please make sure you complete a survey every time you volunteer with us! | | Volunteer Tips - Take Action NOW! | Vacant homes can be a serious blight on a community - and more and more of these properties are cropping up as the housing crisis and economic downturn collide. Our neighborhoods are in peril, and we need to do something. Luckily, Habitat for Humanity has a great plan to reclaim vacant properties and reinvigorate struggling neighborhoods, but it takes resources to do the job right. Right now the funding hangs in the balance. This is too important - we need to SPEAK UP! | | In Next Month's Issue... | | I'll tell you all about how much fun Habitat Night at Bethesda Big Train was. Make sure you join us!
Stay tuned... | | I'm closing with a special thank you to our crew leaders. HfH-MC has some wonderful crew leaders that all contribute in their own ways. When you're on the site, these are the people who make sure things are done well. Tell them THANK YOU next time you spend a day onsite.
In Partnership,
Molly
