Getting the word out by connecting with Connected Communities
In an effort to expand the ways in which we communicate during emergencies with those who live and work in Montgomery County, we are now participating with Connected Communities at http://connectedcommunities.us.
This collaboration between Montgomery County, Connected Communities, and local listservs, helps ensure that critical information is delivered fast and efficiently to county residents.
The Montgomery County Police endorses Connected Communities.
During the 2008 series of home invasion robberies in Bethesda, 2nd District police officials held an information meeting with Bethesda residents to update them on the situation. Fliers for Connected Communities were handed out as an information resource and the police had this to say:
Police suggest that citizen associations participate in a collaborative effort between Montgomery County and “Connected Communities” part of Montgomery County’s largest electronic emergency alert notification network that connects community listservs. It is found at www.connectedcommunities.us.

At a civic association community meeting in Clarksburg, 5th District officials endorsed Connected Communities. Their endorsement appeared in a Gazette article:
One way to be aware of the crime in a neighborhood is to subscribe to Connected Communities, he said. The listserv publishes up-to-date police crime reports, Dixon said.
