Police Seek the Public’s Help in Identifying a Homeless Woman Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman who has been an unidentified person at an area hospital since November 14, 2007. Continuing efforts to confirm her identity have proved unsuccessful. The woman was found wondering the streets in Gaithersburg, and was taken into protective custody due to her worsening physical and mental condition and lack of protection from exposure to inclement weather. Her physical condition has improved, but she has not been able to feel certain about her identity; perhaps due to a loss of memory. The woman has indicated her name may be “Louise Ellen Traun or Traum.” She is Caucasian, believed to be between the ages of 49 to 60. She is 5’1” tall, and she weighs 110 pounds. Her hair color is gray; but was possibly originally blonde. It is styled straight with slight waves. Her eyes are blue, and she has a mole on her forehead and on her right shoulder. She may be of Jewish faith, and she has indicated that she thinks that she came from New York, possibly Brooklyn. Anyone who may have information regarding the identity of this woman is asked to contact Montgomery County Police 6th District Community Outreach Officer Diane Tillery at 240-773-5757. ![]() Last edited by Howard Hartman; 02-01-2008 at 05:14 PM. |

After the distribution of a press release and photo, Montgomery County Police were contacted by a law enforcement agency in Hartford Connecticut. The woman has been identified as Louise Traum from New Rochelle, New York. She left New York in June of 2007, and was not reported as a missing person. She has now been reunited with family members who were not aware that she had left the area. The woman was “found” in Montgomery County wondering the streets in Gaithersburg, and was taken into protective custody due to her worsening physical and mental condition and lack of protection from exposure to inclement weather.
