Rockville Mayor and Council to Receive
Proposed FY13 Budget on March 26
Budget Adoption Set for May 21
Rockville, Md., March 12 - The Mayor and Council will receive a formal presentation of the City Manager proposed Fiscal Year 2013 budget on Monday, March 26, following a review process that began in January and included a public hearing. The proposed budget will be available on the City's website at
www.rockvillemd.gov/budget on March 14.
The FY13 budget will be the first time in many years that the City faces an overall decline in General Fund revenue due to lower real property assessed valuations. Overall, the City's budget is estimated to decrease by 1.6 percent from the FY12 adopted budget.
Two public hearings on the proposed budget are scheduled for April 2 and May 7. The Mayor and Council strongly encourage those interested in the budget to submit comments in writing or at a public hearing before the public record closes on May 17.
The Mayor and Council will discuss all aspects of the budget during their meetings on April 16 and 30. The public is invited to attend all Mayor and Council meetings to learn more about the budget and follow the process.
The Mayor and Council will make final decisions and vote to adopt the FY13 budget at their May 21 meeting.
The adopted Fiscal Year 2012 operating budget is $107.2 million and the Capital Improvements Program budget totals $72.3 million. FY13 takes effect July 1 and runs through June 30, 2013.
