Silver Spring Death Investigated as Homicide Updated Information Related Reference: 2011 Montgomery County Homicide Map Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section are investigating the death of a 24-year-old male who was found this morning in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane. Today, at 6:39 a.m., police received complaints for the sound of gunshots. At 6:48 a.m., 3rd District officers responded for a reported pedestrian struck in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane. Upon arriving, officers discovered a 24-year-old male suffering from trauma to the upper torso. There was evidence of a firearm being discharged. The circumstances that led to this death are under investigation. Anyone who can provide information related to this death is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070. Update Update Update Update Victim Identified in White Oak Homicide Updated Information Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section are investigating the death of a 24-year-old male who was found this morning in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane. The victim in this incident has been identified as Franklin Ikechukwu Amobi, age 24, of the 11200 block of Columbia Pike in Silver Spring. It was this morning at approximately 6:39 a.m. that police received several complaints for the sound of gunshots in the area of the 11400 block of Stewart Lane. At approximately 6:48 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 11400 block of Stewart Lane for a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arriving, officers discovered Amobi suffering from trauma to the upper torso. There was evidence of a firearm being discharged. The circumstances that led to this death are under investigation. Update Update Update Update Police Seeking Witness in December White Oak Homicide Crime Solvers Reward Increased to $10,000 an Online Tip or send the police a Text TipDetectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section are continuing to investigate the homicide of Franklin Ikechukwu Amobi, age 24, of the 11200 block of Columbia Pike in Silver Spring. It was on December 27, 2011 at approximately 6:39 a.m. that police received several complaints for the sound of gunshots in the area of the 11400 block of Stewart Lane. At approximately 6:48 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the same area for a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arriving, officers discovered Amobi suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. There was evidence of a firearm being discharged at the scene. During further investigation, detectives received information that there may have been a witness to this homicide, though only a limited description of this witness has been obtained. The witness is described only as an older, Hispanic woman. It is believed that the witness boarded a Metrobus a short time after the homicide occurred. The bus is known to be a Metrobus traveling the Z8 Fairland Line, and the bus stop for this Metrobus is located at 11412 Stewart Lane in Silver Spring. The witness would have boarded the bus on December 27, 2011 shortly after 6:37 a.m. Police are urging this witness to come forward to provide additional information regarding Amobi’s homicide. In addition, Amobi’s family has worked in conjunction with Crime Solvers to increase the reward to $10,000 for information regarding this homicide. Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to contact the Homicide/Sex Section at 240-773-5070.
