Public Comment Period Extended Until April 8 for Input on the Draft Countywide Coordinated Implementation Strategy to Protect Local Streams and the Chesapeake Bay

The comment period for the Countywide Coordinated Implementation Strategy to meet Montgomery County’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit requirements has been extended until 5 p.m. on April 8.

The requirements for the MS4 permit include adding stormwater management for runoff from impervious areas; using environmental site design to the maximum extent practicable; reducing trash and litter for tributaries to the Potomac River; meeting regulatory pollutant load reductions; and establishing a public outreach and education work plan.

The strategy sets priorities based on individual implementation plans for seven watersheds: Anacostia, Cabin John, Lower Monocacy, Muddy Creek/Watts Branch, Patuxent, Great Seneca (including Clopper Lake) and Rock Creek.
