From tumult in the Middle East to protests in the Midwest, each of us will continue to face an uncertain economic future for some time to come. It is against this backdrop that Junior Achievement prepares to honor National Financial Literacy Month in April. We are unwavering in our belief that each person, given the right education and tools, can succeed in the global economy no matter what the circumstances. We invite you to download our free money-management programs, JA $ave USA, and to read our free Critical Issue White Papers that help explain some of the economic turmoil in the world today. We encourage you to volunteer in a classroom and help this generation's youth become financially fit for life. Inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy Junior Achievement to Participate In President Obama's Startup America Campaign "Entrepreneurs embody the promise of America: the idea that if you have a good idea and are willing to work hard and see it through, you can succeed in this country." With these words, President Obama launched Startup America, a national campaign to promote entrepreneurship. The Startup America Partnership selected Junior Achievement to help scale programs to enable K-12 students to start their own companies. Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and 2004 Washington Business Hall of Fame Laureate, is the Partnership's Chairman. Partnership with Diocese of Arlington Schools Grows Significantly Building upon two successive years of growth, Junior Achievement and the Diocese of Arlington are expanding their partnership to provide over 5,000 students in 250 classrooms with financial literacy and workplace education this spring. Among other life lessons, students will learn that businesses need workers with skills that are in demand, such as STEM skills – science, technology, engineering and math. Broad Corporate Support Rallies JA Bowl Just this month two dozen new companies pledged their support for K-12 financial literacy education by participating in the JA Bowl! The turn-key bowling events provide thousands of local employees quality time with co-workers, helping to build camaraderie and company loyalty while supporting an important community cause.
