MONTGOMERY COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF POLICE
CRIME ANALYSIS SECTION

District Summary:

The residential burglary pattern in J1/J2 mentioned last week is still open. There are no new patterns in 4D this week.

J1 Beat:

· The rape reported on Wednesday 3/21 at 2301 Glenallen Avenue was between acquaintances. There was no previous relationship between victim and suspect. Michael Chandler B/M 22 was arrested on Friday 3/23.

· A strong arm robbery was reported on Monday 3/26. MCP responded to the area of Ivywood Court. The victim is a 17 YOA male and is uncooperative. The “robbery” occurred at an unknown location.

· The attempt burglary reported in the15000 block of Watergate Road occurred on Wednesday 3/21 at 0130 hours. The victim was awakened by a noise and went to investigate. He discovered that an unknown suspect kicked the front door, breaking the door frame. Entry was not made. No property was taken. No suspect was seen.

· The burglary reported in the 2300 block of Greenery Lane on Saturday 3/24 was to a vacant apartment. Nothing was taken.

· On Saturday 3/24 two juveniles were arrested operating a stolen Plymouth Neon on Glenallen Avenue.

J2 Beat:

· On Saturday 3/24 at 1300 hours, the adult female victim was parked in her Toyota Camry in the lot of the Olney Theater at 2001 Olney Sandy Spring Road. She was surprised by the B/M suspect who approached her driver side and stated, I’m going to kill you, get out of the car,” while reaching into his jacket and implying he had a weapon. The suspect was wearing a face mask connected to his hat. After the victim exited, the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and drove west on route 108. Based on the lookout, the stolen vehicle was stopped at Georgia Avenue and Norbeck Road a few minutes later. The suspect bailed out of the vehicle and ran into Kim’s Barber Shop at Georgia & Norbeck and locked himself in the bathroom. The suspect surrendered when he heard the K-9 barking outside the bathroom door. Arrested: Anthony Wilcox B/M 35

· The burglary located in the 14000 block of Carrolton Road was reported on 3/23 but occurred sometime during the past month. An unlocked window was pushed open and the house was entered. The only missing property is a set of shot glasses. Nothing in the house was disturbed or vandalized.

· This event was mentioned in last week’s summary. On Tuesday 3/20 at 0230 hours, a Chevrolet Tahoe was broken into at 5016 Tackbrooke Drive. A witness reported seeing two B/M’s break the window before fleeing in the suspect vehicle, a black Toyota Camry with a loud muffler. Three other vehicles were broken into in the same general area overnight

· Sunday 3/25-Monday 3/26 in the hndred blocks of 18200 Wickham Road, 700 Wickham Drive, and 4900 Downland Terrace. Loose property and electrical equipment were taken from the vehicles. It is unknown if the events on the different dates are related.

K1 Beat:

· There was no apparent pattern activity reported.

K2 Beat

· The burglary at the Unique Thrift Store at 12211 Veirs Mill Road occurred on Friday 3/23 between 0315 and 0335 hours. The owner of the store received a call from his alarm company and arrived at the store fifteen minutes later. As he pulled into the parking lot, he observed two white or Hispanic males at the front of the store. Suspect 1 was standing inside the shattered side door. Suspect 2 was standing outside the shattered door, possibly acting as a lookout. The victim honked his car horn, startling the suspects, and they ran to a dark colored two door sedan, that was parked near the side door. The suspect vehicle left the parking lot then went southbound on Colie Drive. The owner arrived at that point and the suspects left without taking any property.

· The burglary located in the 13900 block of Parkland Drive on Saturday 3/17 is the result of an apparent civil matter, and one of the parties drinking too much.

· Seven thefts from vehicles were reported during the period on every night between 3/20 and 3/26, all just off Aspen Hill Road, Parkland Drive, and Arctic Avenue. Vehicles were unlocked or windows broken. Loose property only was taken.

L1 Beat

· On Tuesday 3/20 at 1800 hours, an adult male was robbed by two suspects he met earlier in the day at Seafood in the Buff. The victim and the suspects spent some time drinking beer before leaving the restaurant together (the unlicensed victim was operating a borrowed vehicle) and he drove the suspects to the 2200 block of Shorefield Road. The suspects placed a sharp object to the victim’s back and forced him into an apartment on the second floor. The suspects went through the victim’s pockets taking cash and the victim’s car keys, leaving the victim temporarily locked in the apartment. A short time later, the vehicle was stopped for DUI in 3D. At the time, the victim hadn’t yet reported the crime. One suspect, Juan Carlos Orellana Rosa H/M, 22, NFA, was arrested for DUI. Another suspect, “Herman”, H/M 20-25, medium height and weight was the passenger and he was released from the scene.

· The aggravated assault on Saturday 3/24 at 0115 hours at La Frontera, 4217 Randolph Road was between the drunk patron (defendant) Angel Quintero H/M 32, and the security guard who asked him to leave. The defendant pulled a knife on the security guard, but due to his drunken state, dropped the knife before he could use it.

· The aggravated assault (knife) reported on Sunday 3/25 at 0200 at 12200 Connecticut Avenue was between acquaintances.

· The attempt burglary in the 2100 block of Hermitage Road was reported on Saturday 3/24. The burglary occurred between 3/4 and 3/24. The victim’s son was checking the house and discovered a window pane in the laundry room door had been broken. No entry was made into the house.

· On Thursday 3/22 at 2244 hours, a 2002 Lexus RX3 SUV that was reported stolen in Anne Arundel County was recovered in the 3400 block of Embry Street. Two B/M’s, 20-22 YOA were seen walking away from the vehicle.

L2 Beat:

· The commercial burglary at Hung Phat Grocery at 11315 Fern Street occurred on Wednesday 3/21 at 2244 hours, and was found on an alarm call. The owner’s sons arrived on the scene before MCP and found the side door was tampered with in a similar manner as a burglary on 12/20/2006. The suspect was a B/M, 20, 6’, 170 lbs’ wearing a dark green hoodie, black jeans, and sneakers. The alarm activated and scared the suspect off before he could make entry.

· The burglary located in the 11400 block of Sherrie Lane occurred on Thursday 3/22 between 1200 and 1450 hours. Electrical equipment was stolen.

· The residential burglary located at the 2300 block of Blueridge Avenue occurred on Sunday 3/18 at 1920 hours. The adult female victim was home and went to investigate noises coming from a bedroom. She observed the suspect, B/M, 5’11”, 160-180 lbs. black dreads, wearing a gray long sleeve sweater and a black headband in a bedroom. The suspect fled the scene when he was confronted. Nothing was taken.
