In our eclectic, affordable Silver Spring Series, Round House presents artists and groups from across Montgomery County and the DC area in an exciting mix of theatre, music, and dance performances. Featured in the Silver Spring Series is Contradiction Dance, our dance company-in-residence. Forum Theatre returns as theatre company-in-residence at RHT Silver Spring. Forum made its Silver Spring debut in 2009 with its Helen Hayes Award-winning Angels in America and returned in early 2010 with Amazons and Their Men. They're back with three new productions. The black box also hosts other Round House performances and programs by our artistic and community partners. The peculiar dying wishes of their mother sends twins Simon and Janine on a journey to the war-torn Middle East to unravel their origins and unearth the source of their mother's years-long silence. A theatrical tour-de-force, Scorched has captivated audiences from around the globe with its poetic mystery, having been translated into a dozen languages in over 200 productions worldwide. In Commedia tradition, a group of strolling players set up their stage and give a performance. Using authentic staging and stock characters of Commedia - the miserly Pantalone, the bragging Captain, the romantic Lovers, the trickster Arlinquin, plus an endearing Lion - Aesop's fable becomes a colorful theatrical experience. The Sarah Play provides high school students from Montgomery County and the DC area the resources and guidance to mount a production at Round House under the mentorship of professional theatre artists and practitioners. Inspired by one of America's greatest visual artists, Charles Mee creates a Rauschenberg-esque collage of images, music, and dance that paints a distinct history of a nation and culture as well as a glimpse into its future.
