The mini-grants, up to $500 each, will be used to support Community Conversations, an important part of the National Conversation project. The National Conversation is working with many organizations and the public to develop an action agenda that will outline how the United States can manage chemicals in ways that are safe and healthy for all people. Community Conversations provide one way for the public to provide feedback into this process. A Community Conversation Toolkit is available to guide the groups wishing to host a Community Conversation. By using the toolkit, community leaders can hold a community conversation and provide feedback to the National Conversation. If you would like to apply for the mini-grants, please read the eligibility criteria and apply soon (applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted). Questions? The food system influences our ability to access, buy and eat healthy foods. The just-released Convergence Partnership's Recipes for Change: Healthy Food in Every Community, authored by Prevention Institute, aims to increase access to healthy foods by highlighting the innovative prevention strategies already working in communities across the country. >> read the full text 2010 National Drug Control Strategy Defining drug addiction as both a public health and public safety issue, the newly released 2010 National Drug Control Strategy is the inaugural strategy of the Obama Administration. It was created by the Office of National Drug Control Policy with input from federal, state and local partners, and serves as a blueprint for action for the federal government. The 2010 National Drug Control Strategy offers a balanced and collaborative approach to drug control. >>read the full text Preventive Services Can Help Save Lives Developed in collaboration with AARP and the American Medical Association, the report, "Promoting Preventive Services for Adults 50-64: Community and Clinical Partnerships," is now available online in an interactive version.
