Montgomery County Public Libraries Celebrates Children’s Book-Week with Award-winning Children’s Illustrator, Author Chris Soentpiet

In celebration of Children’s Book Week, May 10 -15, several Montgomery County Public Libraries will feature entertaining programs for elementary school children and their families by award-winning children’s book illustrator and author Chris Soentpiet.
Because Soentpiet’s books reflect his interest in people, history and culture, they are used by teachers around the world. He says his method of painting is similar to that of his idol, Norman Rockwell.

The Korean American artist made his debut in 1994 with “Around Town,” which he illustrated and wrote. Since then, his books have received numerous honors, including the International Reading Association Teachers' Choice Award, NAACP Image Award, “Parents Magazine” Best Children's Book of the Year, International Reading Association Notable Children's Book for a Global Society and the American Library Association Notable Book.
