3rd District Weekly Crime Summary - April 14, 2010 Reporting Period: March 29, 2010 to April 6, 2010
G1 Beat: A robbery occurred in the area of 1100 Wayne Avenue, Silver Spring on Friday, 4/2 at 8:24 p.m. The 50-year old male victim advised that he was approached by three suspects who knocked him down, assaulted him and took a shirt and jacket before fleeing. Suspects: (3) B/Ms, 18-23 years, 511, one described as having dreadlocks. Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred in the same Silver Spring area of the beat during the late evening hours of Monday, 3/29 into the early morning hours of Tuesday, 3/30. Windows were broken in four of the incidents. GPS systems, cash, a brief case and back pack were the items of choice. Streets affected include:
Suspect: W/M, 59, 170 lbs. G2 Beat: A commercial burglary occurred at the Dollar Power, 8653 16th Street, Silver Spring on Wednesday, 3/31 at 3:39 a.m. Entry was forced; property and cash were taken. Suspect: Unknown race/Male, 58 to 510, 160-180 lbs, face was covered. A commercial burglary occurred at the McDonalds, 8637 16th Street, Silver Spring on Wednesday, 3/31 at an unconfirmed hour. Entry was forced; property was taken. Suspect: Unknown race/Male, 58 to 510, 160 180 lbs. H1 Beat: Two commercial burglaries occurred at The Community Thrift Store and UTS Corporation, 706 University Boulevard, Silver Spring between 11:00 p.m. on Monday, 3/29 and 7:59 a.m. on Tuesday, 3/30. Entry was unforced at the first business, but forced at the second. Property was taken in both incidents. Suspect: W/M, 58 to 510, 140-160 lbs., bald head, wearing black baseball cap, black jacket with silver stripe, white gloves, blue jeans and boots. A residential burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace, Silver Spring on Saturday, 4/3 between 5:00 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. Unknown means of entry; nothing taken. A residential burglary occurred in the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue, Silver Spring between 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, 4/3 and 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, 4/4. The suspect(s) used unknown means to enter the residence, and removed property. H2 Beat: Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred throughout this Silver Spring beat during the reporting period. Most vehicles were entered by breaking windows and most of the incidents occurred in the late evening to early morning hours. GPS systems were the items of choice. Streets affected included:
I1 Beat: A robbery occurred in the 11500 block of Stewart Lane, Silver Spring on Tuesday, 3/30 at 4:30 p.m. The 18-year old male victim met the suspects in an attempt to purchase a stereo and followed them from outside into a hallway. One suspect produced a gun and a fight ensued during which time the victim was struck in the head with the gun. The suspects fled after dropping the handgun. Unclear whether anything was taken from the victim. Suspects: B/M, 15-19 years, 56 to 510, 140 lbs., armed with revolver; B/M 15-19 years, 130 lbs. An aggravated assault occurred in the unit block of Featherwood Court, Silver Spring on Friday, 4/2 at 11:01 p.m. Two individuals were involved in an argument over loud music when the suspect went to her apartment, retrieved a rifle and knocked on the victims door and threatened her. Patrol responded, arrested the suspect without incident and the rifle was retrieved. Arrested: Female, age 22, from Silver Spring. An attemped residential burglary occurred in the 11500 block of Sutherland Hill Way, Silver Spring on Friday, 4/2 at 8:13 p.m. A forced entry was attempted but no entry was gained. Suspects: (3) Unknown males. I2 Beat: An attempted robbery occurred in the 4300 block of Leatherwood Terrace, Burtonsville on Thursday, 4/1 at 9:56 a.m. Two suspects armed with guns approached the victim and demanded cash. The victim fled into his residence. Suspects: B/M, 17 years, black Chicago Bulls jacket, armed with a gun; B/M, 15-17 years, 57 to 59. An attempted residential burglary occurred in the unit block of Scarlet Sage Court, Burtonsville on Tuesday, 3/30 at 7:41 a.m. Attempted forced entry; not successful. Nothing taken. A residential burglary occurred in the 4300 block of Leatherwood Terrace, Burtonsville on Tuesday, 3/30 at 11:20 a.m. Forced entry; property taken. Suspects: (3) B/Ms, 15-17 years, 57 to 59, 2 suspects described as wearing black hats. A residential burglary occurred in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard, Silver Spring onWednesday, 3/31 between 3:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Forced entry; property was removed. |
