Rockville City Hall to Close
Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Recycling and Refuse Will Not be Collected; Parking Fees Will be Lifted
ROCKVILLE, Md., January 5, 2009 - Rockville City Hall, as well as many City facilities, will be closed or will operate on a limited schedule on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 18.
Parking is free at all on-street meters and in the three City-owned Town Square garages - on Route 355, Maryland Avenue and N. Washington Street.
Recycling and Refuse will not be collected. When a holiday falls on a weekday and residents' regularly scheduled collection day is on or after the holiday, collection will be delayed by one day. For example, if collection is scheduled for Monday, recycling and refuse will be picked up on Tuesday. Each day of that week will follow that one-day shift forward. The following list outlines the schedule for City of Rockville facilities and programs:
- The Rockville Senior Center will be open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. for drop-in use only. No transportation offered and no lunch served.
- Rockville Civic Center Park offices will be closed.
- Discovery Childcare, Early Risers, Enrichment Program, Teen Program, Twinbrook Renaissance and Kidz Clubs after-school programs will be closed.
- All City of Rockville sports practices and programs held in Montgomery County Public Schools facilities are canceled.
- The Glenview Mansion and the Glenview Mansion Art Gallery will be closed.
- The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and Box Office will be closed.
- The Twinbrook Community Recreation Center will be open 6 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
- The Lincoln Park Community Center will be open 9 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
- Thomas Farm Community Center is open 6 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
- The Croydon Creek Nature Center will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
- The Rockville Municipal Swim Center will be open regular hours.
- RedGate Municipal Golf Course will be open, weather permitting.
