Weekly Summary: 4th District, 02/20/07 to 02/28/07 MONTGOMERY COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF POLICE CRIME ANALYSIS SECTION District Sumary: On Saturday evening 2/24, two serious stabbings were committed by the same group. See the L2 and K1 for details. · Several stolen cars were reported along Fairland Road over the weekend; see the J1 section for further details. J1 Beat: On Monday 2/26 1500-1740 hours, at the 1300 block of Cavendish Drive, an unknown suspect(s) broke a window while the family was out. Electronic equipment was stolen. · Between Saturday 2/24 and Sunday 2/25, six vehicles parked in the same general area were targeted for theft with three of the vehicles actually stolen. Jeeps and Dodge caravans were targeted.
J2 Beat: · On Saturday 2/24 between 1200 and 1700 hours, two juveniles males broke into a residence at the 18000 block of Queen Elizabeth Drive while the victim was away for a few days. The boys admitted to the burglary and the electrical equipment that was taken was recovered from a sewer. K1 Beat: · On Saturday 2/24 at 2040 hours, at the 3700 block of Bel Pre Road, the adult male victim was attending a family party. Party-goers looked outside and observed that three B/M’s were inside one of the family member’s cars. The owner of the vehicle and some friends went outside and confronted these three subjects and at this time a larger group of subjects (15-20 B/M’s) joined the three car-theft subjects and confronted the car owner and his friends. One of the large groups of suspects had a handgun and two had baseball bats. During this time the assault victim exited the apartment with family members and confronted the thefts suspects. The victim did not realize that family members fled back to the house when the handgun was displayed. The victim was beaten and kicked by the entire group, and stabbed by one member of the group; he suffered serious and life threatening injuries. So far eleven arrests have been made. All defendants are juveniles and all are members of a gang. This “gang” is loosely knit and has gone by at least five different names over the past six months, with members and names interchangeable. Names of the arrested suspects are still evolving. · The residential burglary at the14500 block of Dunisnane Drive occurred on Thursday 2/22 0730-1900 hours. Entry was gained by breaking a window. Gang-related graffiti was written on the walls in crayon or marker. K2 Beat · On Tuesday 2/20 at 1400 hours, a witness observed two H/M’s 16-18 breaking into an acquaintance’s vehicle at the 3400 block of Harrell Street. A window was pried and electrical equipment was removed from the victim’s 1991 Honda. L1 Beat: · The attempt strong arm robbery reported on the footpath next to Northwood High School occurred on Monday 2/26 at 1530 hours and the victims were juvenile high school students. MCP responded to the group home at the 600 block of Hyde Road and located the two juvenile suspects The third suspect was located at another group home on Maryland Avenue in Rockville. All three suspects were positively ID’ed and arrested. · The three vehicles reported stolen do not appear to be related; see the printout for further L2 Beat: · Related to other incidents in K1: On Saturday 2/25 at 1900 hours, two juvenile male victims were walking to the Wheaton Metro from the parking garage when they were confronted by 15-20 B/M’s all wearing dark clothing. One of the suspects stabbed both victims. One received a severe cut to the chest, non-life threatening; both victims were transported to a local trauma center. Metro Transit PD is handling the call. · The burglary at Quiznos, 2800 University Boulevard, occurred on Monday 2/26 at 0445 hours. The owner closed early due to the snowstorm and apparently inadvertently left the rear door unlocked. The alarm activated and poor quality video captured a suspect wearing a hat and gloves, NFD. Cash and coins were taken. · On Wednesday 2/21 0730-1730 hours, two 1998 Chrysler Concordes were stolen from the Metro garage at 11010 Veirs Mill Road.
