Default Montgomery College Awarded $20,000 Grant from the Aronson Foundation

Montgomery College Awarded $20,000
Grant from the Aronson Foundation

Gift will provide scholarships for College's
Macklin Business Institute Honors Program

Montgomery College recently secured a $20,000 grant from the Aronson Foundation, a charitable organization, to establish the Aronson Foundation Scholarship Fund for students participating in the Gordon and Marilyn Macklin Business Institute (MBI) honors program. The fund will provide scholarships over the next five years to MBI students interested in pursuing careers in accounting.

The MBI honors program provides a business honors education to Montgomery College's top business students. Founded in 1999, more than 150 students have graduated from the program and transferred to some of the country's top four-year universities, including Columbia University, New York University, Georgetown University and the University of Maryland.

"We are excited about our new partnership with the Aronson Foundation to help support the future business leaders of our community," said Stephen Lang, program director of the Macklin Business Institute at Montgomery College. "We are also looking forward to having Aronson & Company employees serve as speakers and mentors for our students."

Aronson & Company, a Washington-area accounting and consulting firm, established the Aronson Foundation in 2004 to address needs in local communities. The Foundation distributes grants to charitable organizations that provide services that enhance the world and help the people thrive and succeed.

"Aronson & Company and the Aronson Foundation are very excited about this scholarship fund. We are so proud of Montgomery College's Macklin Business Institute and the opportunities it provides for the people of this community," Aronson Foundation President Jeffery Capron said. "The Aronson Foundation believes in the power of education and the scholarship fund is one of many ways that we are giving back to the county in which we live and work."
