Holiday Schedule Announced for Solid Waste Facilities, Drop-off Sites

The Montgomery County Division of Solid Waste Services (Department of Environmental Protection) has announced the schedule of operations for the upcoming holidays at the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station located at Route 355 and Shady Grove Rd. in Derwood.

The Public Unloading Facility and Recycling Drop-off areas will close at 5 p.m. on the day before Thanksgiving, November 26, and on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The areas are normally open weekdays until 8 p.m.

The entire facility will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s days.

The County’s solid waste drop-off sites, known as “Beauty Spots,” located in Damascus and Poolesville, will be open on the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving. However, they will be closed on the weekends after Christmas and New Years.
