Gaithersburg Skate Park to Host Cooperative
Competition with Olney Skate Park

Gaithersburg, MD. Skaters of all levels are invited to enter the cooperative Gaithersburg/Olney Skate Park Competition for skateboarders and in-line skaters on Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gaithersburg Skate Park. The entry fee is $5 per participant. Registration and payment can be made prior to or on the day of the event. Space is limited, and registrations will be processed on a first come, first served basis. The Gaithersburg Skate Park is located at 510 South Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg.

Contestants may choose from any of the six events: Novice or Advanced Skateboard Competition, Novice or Advanced In-line Competition, Best Trick, and Big Air. Participants may not enter multiple events. Contestants can also enter as a representative of either park and have their score be used in the team competition.

Practice time will be allotted before each event. Each participant will receive two one-minute runs through the course and scores will be tallied after each run, with the best score being used. Judging will be based on style, consistency and technical presentation. Prizes will be awarded to the top three individual contestants in each category. The team scores for each park will also be averaged, and the winning park contestants will win t-shirts.

All skaters must sign a Gaithersburg Skate Park Liability Wavier and skaters under the age of 18 must have the waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.
