Repairs Underway on Talbot Avenue Bridge in Silver Spring
Work Expected to be Complete by September
After a routine inspection found loose deck boards on May 28, the Montgomery County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT) closed the Talbot Avenue bridge that runs over the CSX railroad tracks between Hanover Street and Grace Church Road in the Silver Spring/Brookville area to vehicle traffic.
Because the timbers needed to repair the bridge are an unusual size, they must be specially ordered. Once the timbers are received, DPWT will need about two weeks to complete repairs. All work on the bridge should be completed by September. Meanwhile, drivers are being detoured to either Brookville Road or 16th Street. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists, except during times when construction requires full closure.
