Leggett, State Housing Officials Urge Homeowners to Seek Help to Avoid Foreclosure; C

County Executive Isiah Leggett, joined by Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Raymond A Skinner, today urged County homeowners to seek assistance to avoid losing their home to foreclosure and outlined key programs available to provide help.

“Montgomery County has not been immune to the foreclosure crisis gripping the nation,” said Leggett. “Help is available but those facing foreclosure need to take the first step and reach out for assistance.”

County officials recently signed three memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to provide additional assistance.

• The State and the County have each contributed $100,000 to fund two non-profit organizations- the Latino Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) and Home Free USA—to provide counseling to homeowners in the County.
