Police Investigate Silver Spring Homicide

Montgomery County Police detectives from the Major Crimes Division Homicide/Sex Section are investigating a homicide in Silver Spring, Maryland.

On Friday, March 7 at approximately 10:40 p.m., police officers from the 3RD District were called to 1110 Fidler Lane for a fight in progress in front of that address. Upon arrival they found an 18 year-old male in the street deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had apparently been stabbed as a result of two groups of people fighting. Detectives are interviewing other subjects present during the assault. The victim's identity will be released when family members have been notified.

An autopsy has been scheduled at the Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore to determine the exact cause and manner of death. Detectives from the Homicide/Sex Section of the Major Crimes Division are asking anyone with information regarding this event to call 240.773.5070. Callers may remain anonymous.

Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Female for the Homicide in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police detectives from the Major Crimes Division Homicide/Sex Section this morning charged Adrienne Victoria Cravens, age 19, of the 8600 block of 16th Street in Silver Spring, for the homicide that occurred in Silver Spring.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. yesterday evening, police officers from the 3rd District were called to 1110 Fidler Lane in Silver Spring for a fight in progress in front of that address. Upon arrival they found Sean Cope, age 18, of the 400 block of Burbank Street in Washington, D.C., in the street deceased. He had apparently been stabbed as a result of two groups of people fighting.

Through the course of the investigation, Cravens was developed as the suspect responsible for stabbing Sean Cope. She was arrested and charged with 1st degree murder and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center. It was learned that Cravens was known to Cope, but the motive for this homicide remains under investigation.
